His company, Vilmar Ceni – Orgânicos Ltda., located in the state of Paraná, southern Brazil, has been dedicated to producing certified organic yerba mate for many years. Every harvest reflects a philosophy that cannot be accelerated by machines: nature has its own rhythm, and quality is the reward for respecting it.
Over time, his products reached customers who appreciated more than simply a beverage. They appreciated authenticity.
Today, however, his greatest challenge is no longer producing excellent yerba mate.
It is ensuring that everything he has built continues into the future.
Although he remains active and deeply involved in every decision, Vilmar knows that every life's work eventually needs new hands to continue its journey. For this reason, his trusted colleague of many years, José ("Zé"), now shares the day-to-day management of the company alongside him. Together they work to preserve the values that have guided the business from the beginning: honesty, consistency and uncompromising quality.
This transition is not about replacing a legacy.
It is about protecting it.

A Personal Belief
There is one story that cannot be found in scientific journals, but belongs to Vilmar himself.
According to his own testimony, he believes that the yerba mate he has consumed throughout his life played an important role in helping him recover during three different battles with cancer.
This is his personal experience.
Scientific research has not demonstrated that yerba mate cures cancer, and no such claim should be made. Some laboratory and animal studies have shown that compounds naturally present in yerba mate possess antioxidant and anti-tumor activity, but these findings have not been confirmed as a treatment or cure in humans.
Vilmar has never tried to convince scientists.
He simply tells his own story.
He also insists on one principle that has guided his production for decades.
His yerba mate is carefully dried using hot air at temperatures not exceeding approximately 50°C, avoiding direct smoke contact. According to Vilmar, this gentle drying process preserves the natural characteristics placed in the leaf by nature itself. Everything that nature created inside the leaf should remain there until it reaches the consumer.
Whether science will one day fully explain everything he believes is a question for researchers.
Vilmar's responsibility has always been much simpler:
Produce the best yerba mate he possibly can.
A Family Tradition
There is another story that always brings a smile to his face.
Vilmar's mother lived to 106 years of age.
Until the end of her life she remained a devoted consumer of the yerba mate prepared by her son.
Can anyone say that this tea was the reason for such remarkable longevity?
Of course not.
No one can make such a claim.
But one beautiful fact remains.
She left this world carrying with her the familiar, naturally sweet taste of a chimarrão lovingly prepared by her own son.
